More and more, social care organisations are finding themselves in the front line when it comes to protecting vulnerable people from abuse and harm. Minimum care standards throughout UK include competence in Adult Protection protocols and there are very real legal responsibilities for care providers.

Fortunately the rules and responsibilities for front line workers are relatively straightforward and all staff should be more than able to comply provided that they understand what is required of them.

This course equips workers to make sense of the legislation in practice and to fulfil their duty of care regarding vulnerable people. The course covers:

Who is a vulnerable adult?
What is abuse?
Two main roles: Alerter and Investigator
How to spot abuse and harm
Recording concerns
Reporting and the truth about confidentiality
Boundaries for alerters and other staff
The investigation process

What is an enhanced CRB check?

No previous knowledge or experience is necessary for the basic course.

More advanced training is also available for more experienced workers.

Philip Laing is 19 years old. Like many 19 year old students he sometimes drinks too much – a lot too much. Like many drunken teenagers he sometimes acts inappropriately when he’s ‘in his cups’. One night last October, following a night of drinking with his fellow sfgudents a very drunk Mr. Laing urinated on a war memorial in Sheffield's city centre.
